I'm not sure what these purple flowers are called. Anyone know? Update: Bill has informed me these are shooting stars. This photo is also from Rock Creek in the Sierras (like the last one I posted). I took this while lying down, with the camera about a foot above the ground to isolate these two particular flowers from the rest that were in the field. |

Shooting Stars. They vary in size. Sometimes, in the lower elevations they grow quite large, but in higher elevations, (12K feet) they are very very small. My favorite sierra wildflower.

Galen Rowell has a nice shot near where you probably took your awesome photo. http://www.toddskinner.com/portal/Galen/Galen_images/AA1089.jpg

Nice shot Daniel. I'm curious about the beautiful bokeh. Was that actually from the original or in post processing? Very Nice.

Thanks, Tom. The bokeh was not from any post-processing. Just a really nice lens, at around 200mm and f/4.0.

The very shallow depth like makes this look delicate.. Nice shot.
